West Coast Eagles Basketball Victory Over ASU
The West Coast Baptist Eagles sunk their talons into the final regular season game and hung on for the win. They welcomed American Sports University to the Student Life Center on Monday night due to the game being postponed in January because of weather conditions. ASU is a conference opponent of West Coast and held an 8-9 overall record coming into the game. Both teams were prepping for the conference tournament which is in Portland later this week.
The home team got off to a fast start, generated by an offense that made key entries into the lane and picked up offensive rebounds. The visitors were frustrated by turnovers and tight defensive plays by West Coast. The score at halftime showed the Eagles were up by ten points. As a result of Monday night classes the gym was far from being full, but midway through the second half it was evident that those classes were now over. It couldn’t have happened at a more critical time. American Sports had pulled within one point and were threatening to take the lead. Helped by a timeout and the increased fan support, the home team rallied, made some big plays and built their lead back up. ASU did not have enough gas in the tank to produce another rally and lost the game by a score of 84-73.
