WCBC Basketball Victory Over LaSierra
The entire crowd was standing and cheering for the West Coast Baptist College Eagles as the last few seconds ran down. Thursday night, January 28, West Coast played La Sierra. The stands were filled and the players were ready. The whole game was neck and neck. As one team would make a shot the other would answer back. Second half started with the Eagles down by two, and again it was very close. La Sierra pulled ahead slightly and Jared Butterfield, a freshman, was pulled off the bench and put into the game. Though only in for a few minutes, he tied things up by making five points. When asked about it he said, “I tried to do my best defensively.” He also said that Coach had taught him to never quit, which showed for the whole team as the game continued. As the clock ran out the Eagles were down by two points and Danny Galdamez took the ball up; the buzzer sounded; the referees blew the whistle... La Sierra fouled Danny. A half of a second was put back on the board and Danny stepped to the line. He made both shots and the game moved into overtime. Through the next five minutes, Danny was put back on the free throw line three more times putting West Coast in the lead. Everyone was on their feet those final moments of the game. West Coast won it 88 to 84!
