Santa Cruz and La Sierra

This past weekend in Santa Cruz, the Lady Eagles competed at the University of California in the Slugs’ annual invitational tournament. Although they went 0-3 this weekend, the Lady Eagles experienced a different type of success.
On Saturday morning, while the other teams were taking the court, the Lady Eagles ventured to a different place in the city outside their normal athletic venue. At the boardwalk in Santa Cruz where many were searching for entertainment, the Lady Eagles were busy sharing their faith to dozens of people. Even with the noise of vendors and screams of the nearby cheerleading competition, two of the Lady Eagles shared the plan of salvation with two young men who soon bowed their heads and accepted Christ as their Saviour. Their new joy was evidenced in their bright smiles - brighter than the boardwalk’s fluorescent lights.
The Lady Eagles experienced little athletic success this weekend, but their spiritual victories significantly outweighed their athletic defeats.
Coming off the weekend with revived spirits and many lessons learned, the Lady Eagles took the court against La Sierra University on Tuesday. Although it was a long, drawn-out match, the Lady Eagles eventually defeated La Sierra University 3-2.
The two teams will meet again this weekend in the Lady Eagles’ first home game at 7:00 p.m.
