Intramural Sports

The intramural sports program at West Coast is an integral part of college life. Each week 575 students participate in football, mixed volleyball, and soccer. The sidelines are always packed with spectators as well, especially as the season nears tournament time. The names of our football teams this year are New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, D.C., Miami, Chicago, and St. Louis. In men’s soccer we have Tokyo, London, Manila, Moscow, Seoul, and Sydney. The ladies soccer teams are Brazil, China, England, and Japan. In mixed volleyball we have Colorado, Alaska, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and California. Perhaps you are wondering why we would choose these cities, states, and countries as team names. Even in the sports program we want our students to constantly be reminded of the harvest! Every week when the schedule is announced in chapel, we are forced to think of the people without Christ in these places. Our goal is to exercise our young people not just physically, but spiritually as well. “Go team” – for sure, but more importantly, “Go ye” into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.
