Barnabas Team North Hollywood Trip

“And Joses who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, the son of consolation,) a Levite and of the country of Cyprus…” Throughout the ages of church history, this man named in the fourth chapter of Acts, has been seen as an example of servant leadership. At West Coast Baptist College our goal is to train servant leaders who will be used by God in great ways. One unique ministry opportunity for students at WCBC is a traveling group called the Barnabas team, whose purpose is to encourage and help churches. Each week brings a new church and a new chance to serve and be a blessing. From soulwinning, to youth activities, to building maintenance, to teaching, and to singing—all is done to glorify God and support the pastor and the church.

This past weekend the team traveled an hour away to Burbank, California. Victory Baptist Church was started six years ago by a West Coast graduate, Rob Badger and his family. They recently moved into a new building from a tiny office suite in North Hollywood which greatly increased their room capacity. A youth activity had been planned for that Saturday, but due to record rainfall in Burbank, the team planned a scavenger hunt around the church property and other activities. The girls from the group sang and four team members shared their testimony of how God brought them to WCBC. Sunday morning, the girls sang for Sunday school and the main service, four more testimonies were shared in the teen class, and everybody helped serve a new members luncheon. Following lunch, another alumni Dan Miller, took the group out soulwinning. The Barnabas team ladies sang for the evening service and then everyone enjoyed food and fellowship with the church members.

The Barnabas Team members are: Zeb Greenfield from Alaska, Gideon Ballou from Michigan, Matt McNeil from Iowa, Robert Turner and Kim Harven from Pennsylvania, Elisabeth Estes from Kentucky, Sheri Hawkins and Hannah Phalon from New Jersey.
